Donations can come in many forms - matching gifts from employers; personal contributions through donation boxes, PayPal, or the mail; adoption fees; animal or event sponsorships; donations of products needed for animal care and outreach activity; memberships; and other sources such as Goodsearch and Goodshop.  Corporate donations, matching funds, special fund drives, and grants are also vital to non-profit recue groups.
